Poem - Fifteen Red Roses

Fifteen Red Roses
Fifteen red roses lie on the table
Near an empty bottle of wine
Trapped within lost love’s shadow
Now just a memory wrapped in time
Withered roses that told a story
Of a love and trust that died
Of two souls that were torn asunder
Of a million teardrops that were cried
Fifteen roses touched by heartbreak
Slowly turned to dust
Their beauty lost forever
Scattered among the remnants of a love
For where there’s no forgiveness
No lover’s gentle touch
Loneliness will come seeking
Stealing away the heartbeats of a life
Fifteen roses were the golden keys
To hope and to happiness
To light a soul with understanding
And to gently fill a heart with love
