Autumn's Folly

Age Group: Adult
A maiden’s grace, the dance begins.
A bold caress, you stand and blush.
Veils aflame, she lithely spins,
The music itself a silent hush.
Limbs that ache for her embrace.
Promises that you dare not speak.
Eyes aflame upon your face.
Secrets spared, your passions tweaked.
Surreal beauty like dreams abound.
A timeless smile, the spell is cast.
“Come to me and share my crown.”
A queen’s command, you think “At last!”
Weaving now the ties that bind,
This ancient rite performed for you.
Bewitching beauty, a silent cry.
“And now my Love, you must be true.”
Quickly bountied heat now wanes.
A mask removed, the Wise One rides.
For mercy begs a fool in vain.
A chorus now of soulful cries.
Folly one more victim claims.
With empty arms, you stand and weep.
With thoughts of “Never again will I.”
You close your eyes and drift to sleep.
