Introduction to the Threefold Law
Long have I known I could disrupt other’s energy
cripple them like I did me, when
I once beamed a bolt out and it bounced back
off the wall and nailed me
completely off my feet
rising shaky
But I hadn’t tested this assertion on anyone
No need.
No anger either.
They were a group of youth
About six in all
Hanging out in the schoolyard
in the night
Out of the light
Just thugs did that
smoking pot, planning crimes
I could have cut through the square
saved myself some time
and if they dared assault me
My Ch’i would blast them into line
Reiki wind blowing through them
They’d go down like ninepins, twitching
at the mere raising of my will
My spirit guide said “Don’t engage.”
And had been since a block away, far out of visual range
Sketchy folks up ahead.
Don’t engage.
Don’t engage.
Don’t engage.
and never said Why
I said I could take them
knew it, and why not?
I wouldn’t if I didn’t have to
if they kept their hands to themselves, they’d be safe
from me,
From my Power.
I walked past the entrance and heard
them speak of beating a man on the ground
kicking him as he was “still putting up blocks”
You better believe I wanted to “engage”
and show them what Justice was.
I could take them down, all of them
and then they’d have to beg
for their lives
for their safety at least
And always the memory of that one man
who called up Powers occult
and took on all of them.
At the least I could peg
a kind of tracer on each of them
Call down the attention of the Powers That Be
Watching closer now
if they slipped out of line
cursing them badly
or perhaps twitching my attention
and Astral I’d terrify their dreams,
sending them screaming to Right.
I didn’t engage
I regretted it, didn’t understand it, until
and then only partly
my spirit guide said
It’d be your Karma
beating them up like that
“It’d be your Karma”
and nothing else
Threefold Law was something I only understood
roughly as sort of a cultural thing, secondhand
And could I not be an agent
of said Threefold Law,
an avenging Angel, the Law made flesh,
the hand of God in this world
touching what He or She
cannot, but wished
they could?
In the end I understood,
looking up said Law on the internet
Even hateful energy for a good cause
comes screaming back, threefold
He had told me after I passed, what the point would be
if said youth were too young, and would be treated with kid gloves
by our criminal justice system.
So lax, my nation is screaming for it to have teeth
in all the papers, often.
A finger wagging, a slap on the wrist
and back on the street,
No time served.
And what the point would be, if I showed them hate
again
when so much they did
was hurt Heart, the point
of hitting a screaming child for the noise
burning them badly as I could
to shut them up.
In the end, I had Faith
in the Law Divine
in living in love and not hate
hurting those who acted out of pain.
And I know,
if I have to
If I have to, and only if
I can, just as a Black Belt can use violence
Judiciously
Cautiously
as an Absolute Last Option
to everything else failing,
after being tried
so hard.
I walk not in fear now, but still carefully
send out energy when He says
Pray for them.
They’re hurting.
Love them, and maybe
that can help
turn them around more
than branding their ass with a gleam in your eye
to stop their pain-song.
You know, more than most
what harm that does.
Author's Notes: I know that sending out even healing energy without permission is a big no-no in some circles. However, the way it has always come -or not come- to me is that if it's meant to, if the Spirit gives permission, then it'll let me. And if it's not meant to- if someone is asking for a healing and I'm willing, but it would be enabling their self-abuse, then I get completely cut off and can't even start. And when I'm in desperate straits and begging for energy to enable my self-abuse, my carelessness, the same thing happens. I always ask permission of the Source, and ask it to do as it will.
