Mother Nature Can be a Cruel Bitch

We’d known each other long before
We were cut from the same cosmic cloth
All of Nature was her favorite store
above her eyes she wore wing powder o’ moth
I adored her for her feline grace
and I loved when she tried to be crass
I lived for the glow of her smiling face
I really dug what she did with her asp
After a fireside night without slumber,
though a witch she denied to be
I said “Nine” when she demanded my number
“Right”, she agreed, “three times three...”
Of Her magic feminine way I’d learn soon
though a witch she maintained she wasn’t
She revealed to me her powers through the moon
in fullness, darkness, and in every crescent.
She as Maiden I loved like no other
though to me if then a witch ‘twas unknown
I revered her deeply, when she the Mother
And completely, when she the beautiful Crone.
She changed me so, with her miracles,
this catholic who’d say that witches sinned
Yet she loved to work in her stone circles
And I loved the way she whispered to me,
through the wind.
To my hardened heart she plied alchemy
me, friend, cum lover, cum one who’d always stay...
She showed and promised me a beautiful world
then, on the Eve of Beltaine, she took it All away...
Instead of celebrating May-eve’s moonlit delight
instead o’ honouring the changing season,
She cast me instead down down down
into my longest, hardest, and darkest night
(And though she’s still sorta with me yet
She’ll forever evade love and all reason) .
And though she’d deny she was ever a witch
I guess now I accept her for that word
Because she’d always bid me fair warning-
she’d always said she could be such a bitch!
