Whole yet Empty

Whole yet empty,
surrounded by friends,
and yet I'm alone.
How can you say
all of this to me,
when you know I don't understand.
Everything is twisted, sick
and unfair... I feel that I've hurt you,
all those other men that I've had.
Yes, you may say what you wish,
I'm here for you,
I'll listen, but I'm not for you.
Everyone I've loved pushed me away,
you know this but,
I need it out of me.
They pushed, and pushed,
until I pushed back,
they made me strong,
mean, weak, shy.
They introduced me to pain.
They taught me what it was like,
to love, to hate, to bleed..
Yes it hurt, was traumatizing
but I took it. I took it because
it's the only thing that I know how to do.
Now I know so much more,
I know that I love
I hate
I feel pain,
and I push people away.
If we were together
that's what I'd do,
I've done it before
and I'd do it too you.
I don't want to do that,
stand there and watch,
as you lay bleeding,
dieing, and knowing
that it was me, and my
"love" that did this to you.
My mother chose love,
my father solitude,
my stepfather crime,
my little brothers innocence.
But what of me?
What about me?
What are my choises, my options
my paths?
I'll always be there for you,
don't get me wrong,
but we cannot be,
please understand that.
Don't mourn for what we
could have been.
Be happy for what we are.
I'm sorry that I can't be more for you
but it's all that I can offer.
Author's Notes: This is my venting frustrations and things that have built up in my brain... it's crazy, and will mean nothing to most people, but too one person in particular, the meaning is clear. I'm so sorry I'm not what you want me too be.
