Distant Ember...

Sometimes you touch me so deeply
with words you’ve drawn from our soul
Sometimes you’re the woman who holds me
when you return the words that She stole
Occasionally you illuminate me
with brilliant linkage that I can use
Sometimes your poems motivate me
you lift me up if I’m down with the blues.
You spread peace in these seeds that you sow
But I wonder if you even know...
Sometimes you make me joyfully dance
when your words are so randomly shrewd
Sometimes you put the dance in my pants
when you’re so deliciously lustfully lewd
Occasionally you make me laugh out loud
- the good gift of finally feeling fine -
Sometimes your poetry just makes me proud
to think you’re a soul lover of mine.
You spread dreams in the seeds that you sow
But I wonder if you even know...
Sometimes you evocatively taunt me
with loving words echoed long from our past
Sometimes you frighten and haunt me
you’re the ghostly goddess that left me aghast
Occasionally you almost devastate me
when you magically make me remember
Sometimes your poems navigate me
in my darkness you glow, distant ember.
You spread warmth in these seeds that you sow
But I wonder if you even know...
Sometimes you gore and attack me
with guilt I guess I needed to feel
Sometimes a healin' whore who attracts me
as if forbidden pleasure could really heal
Occasionally your humanity makes me humble
when you remind us what it takes to be human
Sometimes you make my hardened heart crumble
Your poetry makes it soft and liquid again.
You’re planting a beautiful garden
with these poetic seeds that you sow.
Sometimes I wonder if you even know...
