Our Safe Harbor

She was the Source of blessed Life
She was the cause of slow near-Death
She bled me with Her tender knife
After she swept away my Breath
I know now I, a foolish man,
to ever think I’d understand Her
Even Shiva, the Great god Swan,
Was powerless to Her wild candor
Yet She remains the blossoming
of all Life in this greater Universe
Infinite creative Womb still summoning
All Her children to Her deathly curse
In Her Love I sought immortality
Though I was so terribly mistaken
‘Found myself instead black totality
When, from Sense, I horribly awakened
Ramprasad laughed at the likes of me
- We fools who strive to get to Know Her -
He warned we’d end up in Her shoreless Sea
Lost in darkness, ’cut off from Her Power
Lesser men have drowned out there
‘Died lonely in their blackest night
I am leaner now, I have less hair,
but I survived - I have Life’s fight!
I paid thrice dues, I did my time
Drifted lost - in this - Her blackest Ocean
There I turned my pain to Rhyme
There I learned Her sweet dark lovely potion
Soon enough I found familiar Light
Shining far off in the distance
Enough to cut black sea from night
Enough to Hope for my existence!
Your welcome Light became a beacon
- My compass through this blackest night -
You offer the direction I’ve been seeking
It matters not if this is or isn’t right.
By the full light of this new moon
I’ll find my shelter on a lovely shore!
You know, my Love, we’ll be There soon
When I land firm in your Safe Harbor.
