I Wish I Could Tell You

That gaze,
never really warm and loving,
but friendly, acknowledgeing
my existance.
Not welcoming, yet not
exactly barracading me from you.
I know you don't feel
the same, and I'm not asking
you to try, I'm begging you
don't shut me out,
don't leave me here to linger
covered with my broken hearts blood.
It's evident you understand
the pain that my heart is enduring.
You think words are bandaids,
and acknowledgments speed up the
healing process,
you don't see your miscalculation.
In reality, your words are
weapons, adding to my wounds.
Your acknowledgments are like
salt, the sting is terrible,
compounded by your compassion
and your urge to help.
I'm holding my heart in my hands,
and blood from its broken form is
seeping through my fingers, pooling on the floor.
There's a patch on my sleeve, where
my soul was once placed, it's empty now,
the pieces on the floor by my feet.
Shards of my soul,
drops of my blood, ,
my emptyness aparent,
and your nods, smiles,
and waves are to be my bandages, they are supposed to save me.
I wont call you shallow,
self-centered or mean,
you are none of those things.
You are amazing, and supportive,
and caring, but to me,
you are a drug, you are killing me slowly. Without knowing.
My love, my friend, and you...
you are oblivious. You don't know,
I love you, but my heart bleeds from when
I let you go, you own me.
Just know that I love you.
Author's Notes: A guy that i like and he liked me. I told him that we couldn't be. And now I think it might be the biggest mistake of my life.
