Shamaness

Age Group: Adult
Cold night air
cloaks me, pushing me forward.
Full moons light
shows me the way.
Feathers of blue,
black paint, dried on my body.
The wolf is waiting patiently
for that is his way.
Forest looms in the distance,
spirits calling me, calling, calling.
Visions flood my sight already,
pictures, people, harvest, death.
This harvest will be good,
but no gain comes without loss.
Many will die,
my tribe cut in half.
Food that is plenty, wasted... Not eaten.
Arms crossed protectively in front
of my body,
the wolf trots to my side.
Many of the family members
wont get a final goodbye.
My eyes clear,
and I come back to my senses.
I feel close to tears
but wont let myself cry.
Look over my shoulder
and I'm left.
Wondering why.
