The carriage house I built for you
is planned upon our rule of three
I built it when I felt so goddamn blue
Hammering then kept me off my knees
The carriage house I built for you
Nine by nine the front of each three bays
Its depth measures nine feet times two
It's a bright plan from my darkest days
The carriage house I built for you
Is twenty-seven sad feet long
Its roof pitch: nine by three times two
It looks so right, but the location's wrong...
The carriage house I built for you
Helped save me from Life's black remorses
I built it for you to keep one promise true
But I intended it for yours, not my horses
The carriage house I built for you
Is an object of Love's lost Perfection
It looks so olde but its brand new
My gift: one more magnificent erection!
The carriage house I built for you
Has one window in its centred peak
Three by three panes - just like we drew
Just like our Love - romantically antique.
