Pretty Little Killing Machine

Pretty Little Killing Machine

September 12, 2006

Be very careful how you use it
Keep it waxed and set it clean
It is your privilege - don't abuse it
Your pretty little killing machine

You knew exactly what you wanted
He was prepared to pay to the price
They can leave a dream house haunted
But she cares not for men nor mice

She is set out for furbearing prey
That you'll take down in forests green
He checks on her each winter day
Our pretty little killing machine

For you have studied the fur creatures
She has watched them come and go
He has paid attention to Her features
So she will not kill them slow...

Your trap is set, they take the baits
While he is nowhere to be seen
Release comes quick death never waits
She's a pretty little killing machine

Author's Notes: Fur is very beautiful on a woman, no?

This is about humane trapping. Although some object to the practice, ask what man lives and works closer to nature in Earth's winter cycles than the trapper?

Furbearer populations are kept healthier when they are sustainably trapped. If fur was not harvested for its beauty, for commerce, many more animals would annually die slow natural deaths than are trapped. Is the way of things in Nature. We are part of Nature. Fur helps us remember that.

'Pretty little killing machine' is how a trapper I once met fondly described his modern humane trap set.

There is no more beautiful nor timeless nor "greener" coat than a real fur coat.
