A Type of Venting

Age Group: Adult
To be at peace
with every man,
to be at one
with Earth.
To feel the love
that is at hand,
that's passed down
to each at Birth.
If this be true,
how can our hate
run so deep
in our blood.
When really we
all share the traits
that seem to come
out like a flood.
And so we fight
with guns and bombs
to find what
we have lost.
We'll search, and search,
'till we've conqured all,
look everywhere
at all costs.
And children cry
but are not heard,
wives do pray
with fervor.
For men that travel,
that do not stop
until they've walked
the whole world over.
And while we're watched
by all the world,
we forget those
who made us.
Their watching too,
as we destroy
the paradise
they gave us.
And as their tears
stream down their face,
our bombs do
break their hearts.
Our bullets and
the sounds of screams
shatter the soul
into a million parts.
And so they take us,
one, by one,
to replace us
with another.
In the hopes that
innocence can be
taught by
a mother.
Never changing,
things go on,
innocence does fail
to stay.
And year by year
they try to keep
our self destruction
at bay.
II
Somehow we betray
them still,
the ones that
gave us life.
We cry for help,
cry harder still
when we meet
with yet more strife.
We'll think that they
have turned their back,
and that we
matter naught.
No matter what we
give or say,
we don't see they
can't be bought.
They'll stay the
way we've made
them now, 'till we
see what we have done.
We wonder still
why there's no help,
but we dont see
when we're offered some.
We only see
what which we choose,
and ignore that
which can lose us.
We will say that
"We're on TOP!"
when really, we
are clueless.
So stop a moment,
pray in thanks
to the Lord and Lady,
what a pair!
For they did give
us what we have,
to thank Them
is only fair.
Author's Notes: I had a bit of an emotional over flow the other day, and just started writing, and drawing and letting everything wash out of me. And ended up with this.... its not very good, the rythme is a little off... but somehow I think you can see past it.
