Why Be Human?

Age Group: Adult
Why be human,
when we know not
what that is?
Why be individual
when conformity
is "bliss"?
We will sit,
defining things,
when our guesses
taint the truth.
But we don't know,
can't figure out..
That we don't look
where there's no proof.
Skip over paths,
replace them with new.
Our concepts become
computerized,
slowly, we do too.
Why be unique,
when unique is
conformity?
To change,
and be different
is to be
the same.
Virtual reality,
to take away our lives?
To buy them back,
piece by piece....
And then we pass them
down the line, from
one plug to another.
Our times have
changed, our marriage
made, and now,
we sink or swim.
To fly or fall,
our species all...
Until a power outage.
Author's Notes: Ok, so this is my rant about technology... In my english class a few weeks back, we were having this talk about how one day knowledge would not be learned at schools, and that there would be chips you could plug into your head and you could learn all you ever needed to know... Someone pointed out it was kinda like the Matrix movies... So I got thinking and started writing... Hope you like it.
