Michael Collins

Mick Collins went down
In one misfired bullet
Or one careful assassin's shot.
The women's tears
O'er flowed the Irish sea
The men still fought.
The dreams of teh Irish Republic
To beat the Brits, to live free
Strengthened on that day
When Mick Collins went down
In one misfired bullet
Or one careful assassin's shot.
The Black and Tans
Continued to plunder, loot,
Beat and rape men, women and children,
But the Irish Republic fought back.
Strengthened by Mick's ways and sacrifice.
He was a good lad, smart and brave and true.
It was a shame when Mick Collins went down
In one misfired bullet
Or one careful assassin's shot.
The day Michael died
The IRA took over where he left off,
But kept the lads fighting.
No truces were made,
No negotiations settled.
So the fighting continues on even this day.
Because Mick Collins went down

Or one careful assassin's shot.
