O
Look up through our pastel heavens
While his hot orange sun sets down
The distant green frogs thrum in sevens
As Mother Nature smooths Her evening gown
To soft pink now turns the days white cloud
Above an early summer evening silver mist
While passing Sandhill Cranes announce aloud
When western oceans and Her sun have kissed
To deep purples change the pinks of May
As grey tree frogs and yellow warblers trill
Yonder wood thrush sings free Love your way
While long-eared owls move in for the kill
Listen for May's last mewing catbirds
Disappear obsured unto gray gathering night
None of Nature's things demand last words
Her creatures just cease when their time's right
Behold this evening's blue moon rising
While Her darkness stills the thrashers brown
The Nights first woodcock piercing the horizon
As Mother Nature drops Her evening gown...
