Going Home

We had spoken until the night had given way to the morning light
She turned then to the window
"Blessed Lady , Thank you for the morning light once more":
I was surprised we both knew her time was short and pain now was a constant companion
"Mother how can you give thanks for another day of pain and want Why would you be grateful "I said angrily
"Child" she said smiling gently "walk a ways with me..."
The Lady has given me the chance to see once more Her glory
She has given me this day to share with you my precious one
She has given me the comfort of a friend at my passing and the glory of the spring to send me off to the Summerlands
I have lived and loved.. learned and taught.. raised children and gloried in magic
My life has been hard and blessings have been great...and now I wait for my Lady to call me home.
"And what shall I do when you go" ...The child in me cried..
Once again she smiled and said
"Look for me in springs first blooms or in the Circle I will be there
Look for me on a storm lashed lake or at days end by your hearth fire I will be there
When you feel lost or alone remember my arms round you and I will be there never far from those I love ..."
And she smiled into the dawns soft light and her Lady took her home.
