Father's Day

FATHER'S DAY
His step is slower and I must hold my tongue not to urge haste
His stories have all been told and I guard my face that it not show boredom
His memories fade And I must beware my tone lest it show my impatience
His life is almost done and I must guard my hands from wrapping him in tissue
His day's now may be numbered and I must stop my voice from raining childish warnings on
a man with grandchildren of his own
When did I stop seeing Him as stronger , taller and smarter then anyone else?
Where did the time go I had only just turned around and he is feeble, forgetful and so very fragile
How can I ever wake up knowing he no longer walks the earth
Will music ever sound as sweet?
Father, Stay for as long as you can...And when you must leave allow me my goodbye's
