I'd always thought there would be more
Where are the bells ?
all I hear is children's laughter
Where are the fireworks ?
all I see is the sunrise
Where is the burning passion?
all that warms is the glowing hearth fire
All of a sudden I look in wonder
All the promises were kept and more
The heat is companionable now not searing
and the bells now chime not thunder
Loves is gentler now
softer somehow
A Companion for the long journey home
