The hunter's moon's now waxing
A mere crescent sliver in the sky
So there'll be no time for relaxing
Nor no more need to reason why
The hunter's moon's now gaining
O'er green leaves dying under frost
For our summer's sun is waning
Soon Her abundance's all but lost
The new hunter's moon is calling
To wolves distant howling yonder
'Neath leaves like red blood falling
Life lying dead in circling wonder
The hunter's moon's now slashing
This season's blade cuts just one way
While curved canid fangs are gnashing
Against black hounds I keep at bay
The hunter's moon's new shining
Fills the cold night dread with fear
For cruel wolves will soon be dining
As winter's death kills breath too near
