Santa Ana's Mercy

A western sky flames red tonight
While Santa Ana whips uneven ground
In troubled days olde souls shine bright
When homes are lost good will is found
When men build in the way of harm
Knowing the chapparel is getting drier
Then Santa Ana sweeps a graceful arm
Lighting autumn's rolling woods on fire
Men pay three times for their sins
It seems sometimes we never learn
Santa Ana claws back with hot winds
Her embers spark new fires at every turn
Tonight the dry western hills are glowing
While ashen woodsmoke chokes the air
Then Santa Ana's winds start slowing
Her gale force maelstrom a meagre scare
The western sky still flares on tonight
When Santa Ana's fury comes to ground
In Her black wake olde souls shine bright
'Midst ruined lives may good will resound
