Double Helix

Good Friday, 2005 (February 25)
(full moon)
What causes the lives of passionate
strangers to weave around and
about each other for years
always so close but
never meeting
like the
helical
threads of
the stuff of life
itself to finally Touch?
Our parallel paths towards each other marked
by signs in common around which
we have spiralled
through
time.
Is
contact
somehow directed
by the spirits of the places
where our paths have crossed
in rhythm out of time is it the ghosts
who are the first to notice
the ones who see
that we belong
together
you &
me
Is contact directed then by some celestial hand
written with light on a black night sky
a beacon to
guide us
Home
Is there some trickster of Life Art
who draws the two of us along
through poetry and song
and circumstance
to the same
place
in
time
and finally
towards each other's hearts?
Was it made possible through awareness
of the memories inherited from our own
wayward ancestors' strong desires
to live again more intensely
through the two of us?
If not in Truth.
The Earth herself has spun this web
with lines of energy from the sea
to the moon above
the threads
that
caught me
spun me around
and lead me always to You.
I would have been a fool to deny
the unbelievable signs
that lead me
always to
You.
Author's Notes: This was one of my earliest 'poems' written in rune under a punishingly powerful full moon on the eve of Oestre 2005. Thank you for reminding me.
