Crows Will Roost

Crows Come Back

You charge and prosecute the little guys
But let the corporate larger felons go
Your lies and cowardice starting to show
So we’re now planning to up-root you
You take guns away from rural farms
To save folks not from street gang harms
You play sly politics with hunters’ arms
So we’ll no longer vote for likes of you
You ban phosphates from our dish-soaps
But offer not clean stream green hopes
You let big lake polluters off the ropes
We’ll no longer support likes of you
You blame old anglers for fishes demise
While your polluting friends you subsidize
Your green hypocrisy now not so wise
Today the crows come home to roost...
You say climate change must better turn
We grow you corn that Earth may faster burn
Your smart people have so much to learn
But I fear we’re running out of time...
You portray yourselves as so humane
But you know not of animal ways arcane
Your tired righteous ways are so insane
So today we’re voting for real change
You ban inert lead from sportsmens’ shot
But care not 'bout lead poisons your kids got
From lipstick, home air, and toys you bought
Your politics correct have made you blind...
You agree we need organic produce
But then you set the standards oh so loose
Informed consumers cannot greener chose
Your corporate ways so certifiably confusing
You say ‘don’t idyll cars' so we'll all survive too
Then you permit friends to build another drive-thru
Its just more malls and highways that you thrive to
So short sighted is your selfish urban vision
You dictate what farms we may not sever
While your landed friends a subdivision lever
You think your greenbelt planning oh so clever
As if rural landowners were merely your pawns
You now say our woodstoves choke the air
While gas and coal fumes kill kids there
You say green things but you don’t really care
Some day black crows come home to roost...
