There's a seedbank in a mountain
Buried, sealed deeply underground
Crop seeds suspended in a deep freeze
In black hope when all is lost its found...
There is this seedbank within Norway
Buried, sealed far away from all our harms
Saved to brace against the blow of climate change
Protected even from our nuclear arms...
There is this seedbank deep inside a cave
Preserved in blackness in the coldest dark
That despite ourselves we might be saved
Our crop seeds maintained in this black ark...
But just who will be our future Noahs?
When all our faith and power then runs out?
Fought for these seed-rights what future wars?
The values of these banks we surely doubt...
There is a seedbank in a mountain
Buried, sealed deeply underground
The seed cult's sad end held in deep freeze
In black faith that when hope's lost its found...
