You are welcome in this sacred circle
But please don’t move here widdershins
Not herein where time’s a fluid miracle
Where the present through the past begins
You are welcome here by sacred ground
Come smudge in sage smoke curls clockwise
Annoint in thankful prayer then move around
After sunset under rising full moon skies
Offer first tobacco to our good green Earth
You’ve fasted since this staff was sunlit east
Now move past it towards your own re-birth
We’ve much healing to do before we feast
We are humbled here around the inner pyre
Before the sweat lodge entrance to the west
Glisten with the Old Ones glowing by the fire
Then drum and listen put to their wisdom's test
We’re transported through this ancient dome
Warmed by Grandfathers where we’re seated
Chanting inside this womb of hide and bone
Rocked by cedar-water spirits holy over-heated
You can leave the sweat lodge if you must
If you cannot take their heat nor Power
But if you breathe open to their ancient trust
You’ll absorb their grit and you’ll not shower
You are next day most welcome to rejoin me
Washed clean again, by Stony Lake, baptized
Cleansed whole enjoying this just peacefully
Miracles through Earth's sweat healing realized
