Our Colour Green

Our Colours Green

O
Above grey clouds and wet sun showers
Go on love cycles that have always been
Between ice ages and dry sage-brush flowers
Come just celebrate with me our colours green
Remember those long dark winters cold
How we survived among the few so lean
Through our hunting gathering ways of old
Come spring so grateful for our colours green
Remember too those long years of drought
When friendly neighbours turned so mean
We warred with kin-folk past our tears of doubt
For better lives returning with our colours green
Remember how we saw change always coming
We did our best to warn both king and queen
Thus ignored we turned to stone circles drumming
Preparing ourselves for the waning colours green
Below seething clouds and stormy weather
Take my hand again come glide on high serene
Though Lady Winterhawk is free of our Sun’s tether
She yet dances ever with me in our colours green
