Washed to Ground

Settle not for second best
Nor for one lowly nor above you
Southeast is not but by northwest
Wait for the equal opposite who'll Love you
And with this thought strikes close hot lightning
Then from the heavens comes the Rain
But this tempest's comforting not frightning
Its arrival unexpected compelling and arcane
Surround me in your mystic essence
Then refresh us both in quenching waves
Wash to ground my cool old defenses
Thus quenched we fear not watery graves
And as I pen these very rain soaked words
The sun breaks glorious through gray cloud
Thunder distant now succumbs to singing birds
And a gentler zephyr breeze whispers out loud:
"Settle not for second best
Nor for one lowly acting out above you
Southeast is not but by northwest
It takes one complementary to Love you"
Author's Notes: Written under the porch
listening to the wind
Nature wrote this
in real time
last night
It rained
hard
I got
wet
then
almost
as if on cue
the Sun began to shine
and the birds really did start to sing again...
