Old Stone Medicine Wheel

High upon the western prairie plateau vast
Sinking unto ground an ancient large stone circle
Out from which are sixteen spokes radient cast
To trace sky spirits through each yearly miracle
It takes one full day to ride a horse around
What is known as the old stone medicine-wheel
It took four thousand years to be re-found
Now its healing powers are still arcane, very real
Its much like the Stonehenge of the ‘new world’
But its as old and two thousand times its size
Worn by Mother Earth, upward, a pendent whorled
Laid down for Her sun god under endless skies
Ever blue and gold neck bands adorn Isis’ grace
Unto Mother Nature’s skin a calendar dissolving
Here skyward stares a Goddess’ iris into space
About the Sun Her Earth and Moon ever revolving
High upon the western prairie plateau vast
Rises a truly massive ancient stone spoken circle
Now five millennia from out the Earth, our past
In celestial tune with sun seasons - still a miracle!
