A Free Soul

Never did I think we'd be,
standing face to face.
Memories of a previous existence,
lost and forgotten love,
lurking in the depths of my mind,
simmer, bubble, and boil.
Flashes of you kind, loyal and true.
I want to say, I trusted you way back when.
Something began when we were young at heart-
Cut short by the hands of time.
Everything flowing easy from your heart and mine-
Friends 'till the end.
I have to wonder,
did I miss out on my missing piece to my puzzle.
I wish you well, walking away.
Setting you free with out a battle.
We both know why?
You're taken.
Maybe we were meant to be, in another time,
in another place, in another incarnation?
