Mother of Shadows, Father of Light

Breathy fingers sweep my face,
Deeper into silent woods,
Venturing though snares and brambles catch,
The green haze glints silver as I step,
Feeling close to the Earth as the scurrying beasts
Who live and die in the shadows around me,
Coming here to find my centre, my Goddess,
Longing for connection.
I shied away like Cassandra,
From your embrace of gold,
Even in the mundane I feel your rays,
Not just light but power,
Reaching for me, pleading for dedication,
Recognition, veneration,
Yielding to the warmth and flame,
I find my balance.
Both together, trading faces,
One is a part of the other,
Not polar opposites, but of different realms,
Teaching, leading, protecting,
Intertwined like earth, sea and sky,
To provide what we need,
In the foam of the sea, the glint off stone, the sweet morning fog,
We find them and ourselves.
