A Pastor's Son

If you listen closely, you can still hear the cold, shrill wail,
across the placid creek at dusk.
A perfect bride, torn from her marriage bed,
blonde and beautiful, even in tattered disarray.
Accused before cowards, bearing cowls and torches,
sentenced remorseless to death.
The congregations gathered with cheery hearts,
the morning aft, before a wooden cross.
While not a mile east, another bore,
her broken widowed form, still alive.
Three days, and three days weeping,
left to hang, her lover slain,
cold and alone, she wails.
Beaten and raped, tortured and stretched,
fresh open scars bitten by cold winter winds.
Screams echo in torment, yet fall,
upon callous, blackened hearts.
A sigh is lifted, an' praise rings high,
as armoured angels sing,
of glory triumphant, for dark sorcery slain.
For surely, only a witch,
would spurn the advance,
of a pastor's son.
