By The Creek

 Age Group: Adult

T'was upon one trepid night, I wandered, sought, my hearts delight, in melancholic, memories, to touch the sky, awaken dreams. An' lo upon that feral pass, a riverfront, came to at last, and sat myself upon the dock, to wile away the passing clock. With princely might, as I awake, I did in startlement forsake, to golden whispers in the dark, an' cried in excitent the lark. An' Hark! Who passes, muttered I, with deepened shrill to touch the sky, an no response came to the cry, but faded whispers, ever nigh. So in a flurry, aft I flew, to shaded copse in solace knew, to be the place, in safety found, as eyes did wander at the round, though ne'er a sight, as I did catch, but rustling in yonder thatch, and sudden courage came upon, to prompt investigation yon. T'was there I found, to my delight, ` what glorious, otherworldly sight, a door carved out, in brush and grass, an' standing there, a faery lass. She whispered comfort, to my soul, an' held before, a silver bowl, sighed aye, but drink, and wonder know, an' bravely I did call the show. As drink I did, from thus engraved, an mine imagination raved, of tales heard e'er the minstrel plays, when elves did walk on mortal ways. An' terror walked, an fear of harm, though gently cooed to still alarm, she spake so soft, as took mine hand, and lo the bowl did turn to sand, and miles, sand surrounded me, though in the distance came a tree, surrounded by shady glen, a beauty greater than my ken. An as I passed oasis near, where lo upon there came a deer, a mighty stag, two meters tall, its majesty held me in thrall. It begged to follow, with its eyes, and swiftly I did pierce disguise, so followed I through watery depth, an breathing liquid, sweetly kept. Such sights I saw, though none could speak, when finally mine eyes did peek, through misty morning, dark and red, I thought myself sorely misled, yet to my wonder 'pon my face, when I leaned down to wash disgrace, t'was two red prints of lips on cheek, the fairy maiden by the creek.
