Unrecovered Celtic Cross

Beneath the forest mist and woodsmoke
Covered over by thick caribou moss
In the lonely silence since last words She spoke
Still lies the new world's only celtic cross
Beneath black bear claws and deer prints hooven
Undiscovered yet but not quite lost
What's still unfound shows nothing's proven
About old world lovers so once ocean tossed
Underneath tall white pines and burr oak
Below this uneven ground unploughed
In the silence since last words we spoke
Winds above still whisper Her name proud
Hidden from time by woodland duff
An old worked stone mystery still unravelled
Written boldly of with rhyme in cut rune rough
Surviving cold seas through history well-travelled
Beneath the forest mist and owls calling
Below white wolf howls and Her hawking gos
In northern silence the season's first snow's falling
Sheltering still our unrecovered celtic cross
