There, our freedoms come near end
Here, yet still is my six-hundredth poem
Where will long life lead you my friend?
Down ill roads, or unto paths leading home?
There find cold concrete death-traps
Here find cool green woods endless to roam
Where might olde Love take you, perhaps?
Cruel below, of, or within Earth's pleasure dome?
Out there we ride steel rails to nowhere
Herein we glide re-winged o'er fields of brome
What bold wild flowers might we sow here?
'Midst meadows gold beyond tall towers chrome
There sad souls sell doubt for men-in-power
Here rebirth bright spirits above black loam
Where will we lie come spring's first mild shower
Lost out at sea or soul-dancing on beach foam?
High up there we burn in hell's fires infernal
Down here we learn to teach Life's endless tome
Where might our strong desires flame eternal
Clear-eyed and songing come Spring's yogic 'om
