The Difference

Age Group: Adult
I look with my heart,
You see with your eyes;
I kneel in wonder,
And you just analyze.
Look, I see the stars,
You see cloudy skies;
Yet, who can say,
Which way is truly wise.
Where I see a marvel,
You see plain stone;
You shrink from old age,
While I greet the Crone.
My life, filled to the brim,
Your life you bemoan.
I dance with the Goddess,
But you walk alone.
I see the Lord giver,
You just see the sun;
Where you stand apart,
With life, I am one.
You have one life,
My path is just begun;
Truly tell me
Is your life more fun?
Your work you detest
You see only the grey
I see the challenge
The Lady gave me this day
You say you wasted your time,
Your life, and call it tragic
I look at mine
And it’s full of magic
The lady is my hope
My friend and my stay
You scream that’s evil
And you walk away
But I have seen that
Which, you dare not
When it’s all said and done
What have you got?
The wheel turns on
As it’s going to do
I hope you have found
What is right for you
I will walk with The Goddess
It is Her voice I hear
For Her coin is love and trust
Not sin, not hell and not fear.
Author's Notes: This poem was inspired after a rather heated debate
with a friend who has strong main stream religous beliefs.
