She Deathly Trickster

She, Deathly Trickster
Windswept waves of lake sun-showers
Lap golden shores where rainbows end
'Midst secrets kept 'neath meadow flowers
Therein grow black shadows She must send
Overhead fly geese flocks gathering
As shags and vultures spread dark wings
'Pon stones at water's edge now lathering
Life lags 'fore the frosts She always brings
Cool crickets' chorus rules this eve
Still the sun sets below grey cloud
Waves of migrant warblers take their leave
On this northwind chill She's whispered 'loud
Lone wolf howls to the distance
While gulls and terns prepare to part
Black crows and ravens roost this instance
'Gainst skies blood-red beating from Her heart
Tonight Her cool breath's in the air
As this dry summer turns towards fall
Let dusk's mauves and purples take all there
When She, deathly trickster, comes to call
