She Yet Defends

For Those
Who in battle joined
In Answer to prayers
Of the warrior-souled
Down from Her tower
Bearing crest of adamant,
Down with heart-exultant
Radiant in her Arms
To their very midst
Her Hard pressed warriors
And o'er them all,
She, how flawless-fair
Takes up stance
And sword to ward
Her chosen
Soever they may be,
Her splendor of beauty
Glows pre-eminent;
Peerless amid
All Her seekers
Unto the Earth
Battle clad She came.
Round from the right
And the left,
From all sides
They were surrounded
She and Her Servants
Who greatly did marvel,
When they saw
Their tireless Goddess,
Their mailed Maid,
Mother and Crone
Their thrice Blessed Goddess
For in her face
Glowed beauty
Glorious and terrible.
Her smile was ravishing:
Beneath her brows
Her love-enkindling eyes
Shone like the stars,
And with the crimson rose
Of anger fastness
Bright were her cheeks,
And mantled over them
An unearthly grace
With battle-prowess unmatched
And crimson stained sword
She yet still defends
For never alone
And never unavenged
Fall a single of her Servants.
