before we met

Before we met
Life was cold, hard and stale
I would breath
But emotion was absent, pale
Before we met
I had no heart that pulsed
It would beat
But its purpose lost
Before we met
There was a dark veil
It covered me
It was to keep me well
But then I met you
And away melted all this ice
I breathed the purest air
And somehow you did entice
I know not when or where
Now there’s warmth where coldness was
A heart that beats again with love
Emotion where there was none such as
You have become my beloved.
