Earthbound
by Moonlight
Age Group: Adult
My feet walk on solid ground;
asphalt jungle, full of tears and pain,
fertile, lively soil, sweet fragrance of life.
Earth whispering in an ancient, long forgotten tune,
my mother's heart beating in the rhythm of all living,
narrating the story of life and death and being born again.
My feet feel the mourning and touch the deadly wounds.
They sense the wonder and joy of birth
as a blade of grass stretches out into the sunlight
for the very first time
I am earthbound, child of this earth we live on.
When the snow begins to melt after a long winter and
the reappearing green is giving me wings to fly,
I'll dance for my mother.
Come, take my hand,
feel nature's heartbeat flowing through my veins,
embrace the uniqueness of being alive.
Let the essence of our mother's spirit stream
through your body.
