Book of Memories

In my heart lies a tome of yore,
filled with runes, glyphs and lore,
ancient past, knowledge arcane,
the sun's flare and moon's shine.
Hidden within it are secrets untold,
of loved ones three, stories now cold,
flowers withered, lay grey and dead,
a rose, a lily and a wildflower's petals.
Under the twilight of the morning star,
with fiery dawn blossoms a fourth,
a flower grows in ash and dirt,
a hope glimmering like the vast ocean.
Within a dusty olden chest,
a book of memories, a book of pain,
amongst its pages, redolent flower,
the fourth of hope, a child of wishes.
Scent of sea and sight of sky,
touch of grass and strength of rock,
a loved one's caress, a deep emotion,
please, my haven, you must be.
The fourth of hope, a child of wishes,
redolent flower, amongst the pages,
of sorrow's work, the remembrance poem,
the book of memories opens again.
Author's Notes: This poem was written when a new hope blossomed in my life and as a memorial to past, shattered hopes. It's a work that reminds me of a lot of the emotional pain I've felt in my life.
