Messages of Rain

There, listen, drums within are casting a dark shadow again
And speak of words bitter, somewhat sad
All for the rain in the desert ceased again
Leaving the dry, but familiar background
That touched my life and made it whole
But the thirst was never quenched, and the rain has passed
I should have known this shower would never last
But hope chimed in wanting ears
Softly stroking, to a shy repent, all those fears
Given as a gift, the beauty of a desert’s song was mine to reveal
Now with waters flowing once more as life returned…
Too suddenly parched with familiarity again, and
Who remains to prove me wrong?
Desert speaks much, sky listens to the deep
Telling the soothing stories of distant seas
That it watches over as well, and the night
Gives the cold to cool the fever of the day
Another gift, but births no life
Springs no sunny smiles onto the moistened lands
How long has it been that I smiled at a little cloud
Trailing on the horizon, a Thunder Head gathering
Would it ever reach my lands?
Will it grant me a spare little rain to fall
On the feverish insides of an enflamed fantasy
I have seen the Thunder Head once more, rise yonder
This time the winds that blow it are much stronger
But will it ever arrive, or has my sight deceived me once more?
If it never comes, this land shall die
The death upon it shall not be a place I shall enter again
It was made, the Pool of Fire
Answer me, grant me the small desire…
Soothe it… or we may forever lose it
Dreams are spinning and weaving many words in the echoing valleys
Small little greens of hope they are, starting to live and climb
But they shall wilt, if that rain doesn’t come this time…
