Perhaps…

Is it possible that there would
Be so many similarities…
Of someone I’d not known, for
So long, and yet… it seems
Longer than any of my outstretched
Dreams and memories, etched
In the very corners of my mind
Wherever I turn, perhaps
To hide, or to silently cry, there
Is the solace of another mind
Perhaps, just a part of me? Is it
That I see in you,
Perhaps… there are no answers
For an all-encompassing
Something…
Feeling, feeling what? It’s more
Than to be put aside as a labeled “nothing”
It’s more, and yet… I’m not
Entirely sure… what it could be.
Tell me… just say it… who
Are you… do you know
The child I once was, the one
Who’s joy was simple, as simple as
Just swinging in the night…
Do you know, the me that was,
Who had stood so alone, no matter
How many had been around?
No matter how much love tried
To penetrate my walls… my wall
Of grief… and endless, nameless pain
They kept creeping up on me, again, and again
And again… perhaps… this is why
I feel that I can endure, and not die
Because I know now, that I
Am not alone… not entirely
As I had so felt, for so long.
Do you know… the mage who stood
In front of the latch, unable
To shut out the freedom of the night
Of the peaceful sight, of the dreams
That kept ripping reality apart at
The seams, do you know them, do you
Know the woman who had tried
To break out of the past’s chains, defied
All the meanings that had seeped into
Her bones, over such a long time…
Do you know Mont Blanc… that moment
So far now… so far, and still so filled
With pain, do you know her?
I’m not sure even I have an answer… even
Though all of those… were me… perhaps
You know them better than I… for I
Could never understand them…
I was indecipherable, an enigma… but before
Myself, not only others, as I would have liked.
Perhaps… this all is something
Who knows? What the future will bring
It is a possibility, that it’s just… a
Feeling, passing as others do… perhaps not
Maybe we’ve found a lost part of
Ourselves… in each other.
Perhaps…
