Lesson To the Naďve

What I know cannot be gained
By words and warnings
But it makes me clench my chewers
To listen to your insulting moanings!
As if you had been where I
But you can never know
What makes me who I am
And what I’ll never let go.
For the sake of experience
Oh! that you’d see in my head
But perhaps it would have burdened you
That in my place you’d be dead…?
This is no boast nor fantasy
Nor do I reply to slight lightly
Yet your impertinent ignorance
Is twisting knives in me…
I am not to be taken as though
I were an explainable “case”
Indeed not a “case” at all, I’m someone
Who takes the fall with dignity and grace.
What do you know of the warrior’s way?
Your naivety is too strong…
I’d rather not see you ache
But eventually… the hunter will take the fawn.
