The silent treatment

The silent treatment was running in my head,
refusing to bend and let my thoughts simmer
back into the sleep before daybreak’s glimmer,
the shine I’ve dreaded for three nights long
knowing my tiredness would take over
and I’d be in the middle of the hateful sea
of ignorance, no peace…
the taunts following me down the corridor
the memories screaming to break free
of another time… far away…
and ponderings on why
the silent treatment had been set loose on me…
I’d tried to be callous and ignore it’s potency
for it’s occurrences that are all the more frequent…
and I try to escape my mind, the outside and home
all at once… I wish to be alone
perhaps locked away by someone’s side
but never under the gaze of disgusted eyes
scrutinizing my normal habits of day to day…
how can anyone live this way?
Oh, sleep, you elude me so efficiently
when I sought you in the darkness, and in my peace…
though pleasant thoughts override the silence
the silence persists angrily, loudly invading me,
until my deep or even fitful sleeps, whichever… neither come
to rescue me…

Author's Notes: It's 3:19... and I have 9 classes tomorrow. Long day. >_< and I'm recovering from a sickness. And my stepmother is giving me the silent treatment... just see my last few poems and you'll see what I mean. Joy.
