I grieve instead of them and forget my wish…

My mind is all soft and squishy
and for the first time I can’t find
the wish to see you suffer in me
despite all that I’ve reminded myself of
connected to you,
somehow today, I can’t
find the way I’ve done it
after being in grief over whatever it is
that I am in grief over…
maybe the joined sadness connected
to nothing and no one in particular
the empathy of so many around me
who don’t even realize
their own grief…
I grieve instead of them
and momentarily
forget
about hating you…
