I've seen that name before...

I’ve seen that name before…
long ago… I’d tried to get closer
but ended up the farthest of all
and now, in memory
I see it again… and remember
without connecting my own thread
this one was entirely yours…
and the suffering? why wasn’t it you…
So… this is you, is it? what if I met you?
this is what you were ranting on
and after all this time, I finally get
close, and I feel sharper than ever
you
which hurts me so… get away
get out, return not for the one, but for me
and die in me
one last time,
cease to be…
It’s so familiar, you know? I know it well
but somehow I’d never have drawn it
to your personality… and yet
there it be, stirring in my memory, the same
name that once long ago you gave…
this one is special, though
because it’s you
and so I don’t approach it like I usually do
but carefully wrap it up and put it aside…
You never had the same magnitude of feeling
as this denotes from your choice of it
you were never like that…
and I wish you had…
or that I’d never have met you at all…
come back once, and die in me
tell me the truth and get out
forget about me one last time so I can forget you
clear your life of me, so I can clear you…
no render, signature can ever remind me
of you anymore…
Why did you ever be kind
will I be, in your history, the distant one
who writes of you? will that be what’s remembered?
Come back and die…
