A harmless cloud of love…

It wouldn’t be the first time
that one in particular grabs me, pulls me in
and reminds me… it wouldn’t be
the first time, and yet…
I hesitate… because of that…
exactly that… it’s not the first time
that I’ve been drawn like an insect
to its blinding light of sweet memory…
and yet I draw nearer… no experience
can keep me away… the pull is too strong,
it is the one force
that no reason nor madness can stifle…
it’s the insanity of following your heart
no matter how wounded it be…
whether it only has one leg to support it,
it limps on heedlessly…
and calls out ahead needlessly, before being
caught by the sweet tufts of clouds…
that came floating down…
when only just a moment ago, it seems,
they’d escaped beyond your reach, no longer
keeping in the realm of reality…
when every inch of you ached, it let you fall before
to the hard and unforgiving ground,
tauntingly floating just above you, just out of reach
and ignoring your pleas…
How ironic, you think
that now it floats under you, supports you
that despite its betrayal, it follows you
and you oblige it with your pain…
you don’t pull away…
Sometimes you feel, that to let the cloud
support your broken form is rather like
baring your chest
so that the hidden knives can plunge through your heart…
when it forces your heart open, and calls out honesty
tenderly jolting it out of its dream…
and you do nothing to prevent this…
its pull is too strong…
The gravity well ensnaring you
of a harmless cloud of love…
