I’ll never fit into a box…

Inner voice:
You’ve never denied a fantasy before
so why do you resignedly slap on its surface
that it’ll never happen? What does that matter?
the essence of fantasy is the unreal and surreal
why then, this low-down feel?
what energy has put you across again,
who do you miss?
or is that what it’s about, all of this? no.
The reply:
What is anything at all,
just a pointless game
a futile, gentle fight
that’s never won the same…
it used to be easy, a play on the stage
now it’s a knife hammering my ribcage.
What perverse fascinations must I listen to
before I can delve into my own worlds?
who’s denied me my inspiration to unfurl?
I’ll never fit into a box
no matter how ritually I might try
behind the lines, before my emotions notice
before its too late and they wave banners of protest…
I keep seeking something in the wrong places
and I see traces of it in the world around me—
before I defiantly hang up on it,
saying I’m not going to listen to this.
when will my trapped fantasy break free?
sometimes I wonder at whether I want to exist…
or should I just melt into the universal inspiration
and let the fever take me? but it hasn’t done so
in too long… because every step on the worn path
I walk everyday, is a living reminder
of what it took to build it…
and how easily it slips away…
Love is suicide and a hell to evolve body and mind
let alone a suddenly weary and aching heart
somehow keeping itself to tradition
of being gently ripped apart…
I have trusted fate to let me know
when it is that I must move in whatever direction…
what then has escaped my detection…?
Please, let my fantasy go…
