Dóri’s tears

Age Group: Adult
You were right, mate, don’t let it
get you in the end…
you’ve got lots to learn, and
you’ve earned all your true friends…
just make sure to keep the walls tight
and not let it all in…
make sure you know when to draw,
call it a night, and move in—
there, maybe you’ll be lonely for a while
but never alone
as long as you have yourself
and you can come out to me, and the others
take heart, my friend…
your tears are not in vain
because through all the hurt and the pain,
snide little comments and unjust judgments,
you can find your strength…
and I’ll be there to help you to the end.
The day when for once it had not been I
who had broken down and cried,
I’d realized the true value of Dóri’s tears…
because through it all, the sunshine appears,
and how wonderful it be, the feel
if her sunshine had been her friend, me.

Author's Notes: For my friend Dóri, who has a long way to go, but has her heart in the right place. ;) (And who got hurt today, but marvelously came out of it with a little help from me and a chocolate bar of friendship.)
