I've lost a brother...

Age Group: Adult
The medium knows her journey
is not easy at all – full of endings
cuts that she will carry forever
pain of deceptions being put to death,
illusions being dispelled,
metaphysical or physical
lovers, sisters, fathers, mothers, brothers…
all there at some point, creating
within the medium their legacies
she becomes the open book for all to write in
and at some point, they all leave…
the ink that scratches over the page
may be blood and tears, or mere smoke
gently scenting it without a trace…
here and there, her life has a pressed flower
in memory of fields and greens,
of happier days, when all she loved was in her…
Each time it is disbelief
that tries to deny, but only ends up
magnifying the havoc it’s caused…
brother, where have you gone?
Her Wanderlust takes her to the scene
where her desires dance like open fires,
but always, she moves on, never settling…
“drown into my eyes and see the wanderer
see the mirrors of a wolf behold the pathfinder”
all scenes of bleeding memories now, but as ever
she moves on…
Before mirrors showing her the dark side,
through the voices speaking to her, always by her side,
through the tasks that each medium must complete—
the breaking away, being torn
from all that she’s ever loved, slowly some,
others all of a sudden… but they all fall away…
to leave the messenger alone, for her voice
to carry clearly through to all, filled with pain
eyes forever weary with loss, heart hammering
the last notes fading of what has meaning,
the rest long gone… the final picture, complete
an end… to each and every legacy.
…as she stands alone and cold…
…hearing her destiny…
…she faces the empty mirror, and speaks…
…in her messenger’s hollowed voice, she weeps:
“…I’ve lost a brother,
because of a woman
who selfishly radiates negativity…
and destroys all that’s left of his presence,
my guide…
yet another… goodbye.”
…silence.
