Honesty to thine self…

Age Group: Adult
Nobody here, but you and me, self
so there’s no secret to hide…
no one to check you, but your own will—
the true test – do you by your own rules abide?
No one’s going to know what you do,
you are alone now with me
no one can stop you from doing whatever
purely yourself – or shall I say me?
If you break your vow, yes, well
no one’s going to find out what you’ve done
but think about it my sister—
is it worth it to keep a secret from everyone?
It’s only harder on you, now
and here’s your test… no one will stop you
no expectations to fill, demands to meet, but
your own… so will you be true…?
My friend… you’ve let go
your willpower is the only one here
who can stop you from going back…
…shed a tear?
What for, my friend…
it’s been a long time since you’ve been hurt
you didn’t say all that just to flash your strength
and be dishonest to yourself, later regretting bitter mirth?
Yes, it is a mirth for you
to seek out your fears and try to face them
but my friend… to face these things behind you…
doesn’t mean you must integrate them…
Indeed, you detest showing yourself
on the outside, what you really feel and do
but you’ve promised not to lie—
does this not also include you?
My friend, I know your every secret
your every dream, desire and fear
I’ve been with you all along, through your despair
watched every smile form, every tear…
I know what haunts you in the night
what secrets your mind envelopes…
what it is about all these things
that bothers you the most…
It’s not as you feel, my friend
this one is no deception…
why not let myself feel what all do
without trying to elude its detection?
Come with me on a journey
to discover yourself…
let us explore this together and discover
what human… emotions there are where you can delve…
Yes… you are human too…
why deny your hunger – out of fear?
What about it frightens me…
that I’ll be taken too near…
It’s a fine line, my friend
but not impossible to keep from getting lost
you of all should know that you’re better
than to let your bitterness make your heart frost…
